Take 2017 One Day…at…a Time
2016 is just about finished and most people are gearing up to hit the ground running in 2017 with their new goals, plans and to-do’s for the new calendar year. Some approach the new year with ease, well prepared with goals written down in their journal, vision boards all set to go, enrollment in weight loss challenges and, or have new budgets in check. Regardless of you method of preparation for the upcoming year I just wanted to share a few things in hopes that they help you to have a successful, joyous, and fulfilling year.
Take it one day at a time. A mentor of mine used to say “The best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time”. Should you find yourself overwhelmed with what needs to be done to accomplish your goal, break it down into steps, prioritize and make the steps realistic.
If you get off track somewhere, do not be too hard on yourself. It is possible to hold yourself accountable without beating yourself up. We are our toughest critics and oftentimes self-criticism can be damaging not only to the accomplishment of your goals, but to your emotional state of mind as well.
“Eat the frog First”! This is the best way to deal with putting tough, big or just undesirable things off…this is also known as the cure to procrastination. Do it first or before you move on to less doting things. You will be amazed at how much you accomplish doing this.
Celebrate small wins. Make it a habit of celebrating your small achievements. This often motivates you to keep pressing forward.
Do not get caught up in the noise. Oftentimes distractions (noise) can cause us to lose focus, even when we think we are focused on the goal, we are focused on too many other things and our view gets distorted thus causing us to lose clear sight of our goals.
Speak and think life over yourself, your goals, business, family etc. Focus on what you do want, what you do need and what you do have. Try not to even speak or think of what you don’t have, want or need.
If you fail, fall short or simply mess up refer to #1 and #2 but whatever you do, Do Not Give Up!
Wishing you all a very Blessed and Prosperous 2017
